Desperate Measures is a series of work which explores the unseen spaces in the domestic and suburban environment. The works are made using an augmented reality measurement app on a smart phone. The artist uses this app to draw and highlight spaces and forms in his immediate surroundings.
The concept behind the work is based around events of the the last two years which has seen everyone experiencing some form of restrictions on their living spaces and daily routines. Herne uses these themes as a basis for his work. The project is essentially the product of being confined within a set space or set of parameters and exploring the creativity that comes from that using the key elements of form, space and perspective.
